Team Accomplishments:

The Griffins are looking forward to a fun filled season of growth and success.   Triangle, Diamond, Square……..  They started 2012 with the indoor session at Maple Zone and then played in the Spring Delco League.  They picked up 4 new players during tryouts to round out their 12 player roster. Practice for the fall season started in June with summer play dates on Wednesday evenings. The boys have been working hard all summer. They are looking forward to a fun season.  Their week long team camp was led by their trainer James Wallace, who is also the Director of Player Development for GVSC.  The Griffins will get things underway at a preseason tournament in New Jersey the weekend of 8/25 and will start their 4th season in the Delco League this September.

Coach Bio / Philosophy:

The coach was a 4 year varsity starter at Cardinal O’Hara High School and received All Catholic and All Delco Honors.  He has been coaching travel soccer for 6 years and most recently he has been coaching travel soccer with the Garnet Valley Soccer Club over the last 4 years with the 1999 and 2002 birth year teams.

    • Roger has held an E Certificate Coaching License for the last 5 years.  This certificate course focused on the development of the player as an individual and also as part of a team. This development takes a player from being technically oriented to refining those techniques and applying them to game situations.
    • This course had both classroom and field sessions where the coach is taught the proper techniques of soccer, the progression for teaching technique, how to recognize and correct technical breakdown, the principle of attack and defense, care and prevention of injuries and team management.
    • Testing was used to measure knowledge and to ensure each individual grasped the technical concepts.

The Griffins are looking forward to a fun filled season of growth and success.   Triangle, Diamond, Square……..
